The Liberty Party has always attached great importance to cooperation with China, said Alistair Coe, leader of the Liberal Party in the Australian Capital Territory.

Coe made the remark at a meeting with Chen Chen, deputy director of standing committee of Xiamen Municipal People's Congress, on March 15 during his visit to Xiamen, Fujian province from March 14 to 16.

He was impressed by Xiamen's remarkable achievements, complete infrastructure, visionary city planning and high quality education resources.

Coe hopes to attend the annual China International Fair for Investment & Trade (CIFIT) held in the city in September.

Chen Chen briefed Coe on Xiamen's economic and social development as well as exchanges with Australia.

She said that Xiamen is a pivotal city along the Belt and Road route and also a significant gathering place for foreign investment in China.

Xiamen maintains frequent exchanges with Australia. The Chinese city and Canberra, capital of Australia, can learn from each other in urban development and both sides boast great potential in trade, tourism, culture, and education cooperation.

Alistair Coe also visited Xiamen Airlines and Xiamen University to explore how to improve air routes between the two places and to promote educational cooperation.
