2018-11-09

The 11th China (Xiamen) International Recreational Fishery and Aquarium Expo was officially launched at the Xiamen International Conference and Exhibition Center this morning and will last until November 11th.

More than 150 enterprises from home and abroad gathered in the 11,000 square meter hall, which is divided into five pavilions, to showcase recreational fishery and the marine entertainment industry, as well as supporting products.

A flagship event for recreational fishery in Asia, the expo has been running for eleven years. This year, the expo continued to promote the upgrade of recreational fishing villages and the marine entertainment industry in an active response to the government’s rural vitalization strategy.

The Taiwan Leisure Fishery Development Association, which has attended the exhibition for five consecutive years, also contributed their philosophy and experience in fishery and fishing tourism.

In addition, the association also displayed various kinds of goldfish. During the exhibition, there will be a cooperative exchange with the Fuzhou Goldfish Industry Association. It is the first time that a cross-Strait exchange is based on goldfish.

The Kinmen Fisheries Research Institute, a new exhibitor at the expo, presented the island’s scenery and tourist routes of fishing villages.

One highlight of the expo is the 9th"Taiyo Cup" Xiamen Koi Show, which attracts over 300 young koi and 41 adult koi to vie for the championship. The champion of last year’s competition, a 93cm white carp with an orange pattern on its back, is also on display. The market price of the fish is said to be about 800,000 yuan.

Apart from enjoying beautiful goldfish, jellyfish, and koi, visitors can also register for an aqua-scaping competition and many other interactive activities such as prawn fishing, canoeing, and diving.

Also, visitors can communicate with the inheritor of the Burning of the Wang Yeh Boats, a spectacular folk custom in Fujian and Taiwan, and masters from the model ship making field in Xiamen, to know more about the city, the ocean, and about boats.

The expo was jointly sponsored by China Recreational Angling Association, Fujian Provincial Department of Ocean and Fisheries and Xiamen Municipal Government, and organized by the Ocean and Fisheries Bureau of Xiamen and Valued Show Management (Xiamen) LLC.
