2018 Xiamen youth league for three big-ball games kicks off

The 2018 Xiamen youth league for three big-ball games was launched at the Xiamen Caitang School on November 13th.

A total of 1,537 players from 99 football, basketball, and volleyball teams from across the city of Xiamen, will play 340 games in 16 categories during the month-long event.

“Since its launch in 2016, the event’s size, level, and atmosphere have improved more and more. Through the league, we discovered many emerging stars. We hope we can cultivate many more excellent players.” Fu Yimin, director general of Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Sports, said at the opening ceremony.

The highlight of this edition is the online minigame which publicizes the league amongst the citizens. It is said that over 200,000 people played the minigame.

More than twenty reporters from the national, provincial, and local media, including young reporters from xmenglish.cn, the city’s official English portal, reported on the opening ceremony. Xmnn.cn, the city’s official website, broadcast the opening ceremony live.

The league is sponsored by the Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Sports and the Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Education and organized by xmnn.cn, the Xiamen Sports School, and the Xiamen Competitive Sports Project Management Center.
