Xiamen’s major hospitals to be staffed with nutritionists

Recently, the General Office of the People’s Government of Xiamen Municipality has been implementing the Xiamen Residents' Nutrition Implementation Plan, which is expected to be fully rolled out by 2030.

According to the plan, by 2025, hospitals of grade II level or above in Xiamen will be staffed with nutritionists charged with clinical nutrition interventions.

The Maternal and Child Health Services at the municipal and district levels will provide outpatient nutritional consultations, while community-level medical and health care services will have at least one full-time (or part-time) nutritionist.

The government will also make full use of social resources to train more nutrition professionals.

It is worth noting that nutritional agriculture products, especially organic, eco-friendly and pollution-free food production, is eventually expected to significantly increase its market share.

Healthy cooking and nutrition-balanced catering is expected to be promoted enthusiastically in kindergartens, primary and secondary schools, colleges and universities, as well as social welfare institution canteens and corporate eateries.

For the first time ever, Xiamen will propose to give full play to the advantages of traditional Chinese medicine and guide its citizens to develop habits in accord with these dietary recommendations.

With the global drive of AI developments across all industries, it is also soon expected that the community's nutritional mobile terminal "robots" will be able to provide people with personalized nutritional advice.

Xiamen aims to build an individual nutrition guidance “cloud service” that will analyze data on food ingredients and human nutrition as well as general health monitoring and incorporate it into Xiamen's national health information management platform for the purpose of information sharing and significantly improving its citizens' health and lifestyle.
