New mangrove forest to offset BRICS Summit emissions

2018-03-21

Xiamen's oceanic and fishery authorities announced that the second phase of the Xiatanwei Beach Wetland Ecology Park will include a mangrove forest covering 38.6 hectares. Planting for the project will begin next month.

The new forest will fully offset the calculated amount of greenhouse gases emitted during last year's BRICS Summit. The park is slated to open in 2020 and entrance will be free of charge.
