2017-11-16

People's Daily recently released a ranking of the safest cities in China, with Beijing topping the list, followed by Nanjing, Jinan, Guangzhou and Xiamen. Criteria for the rankings included safety indices in the areas of economy, ecology, information security, public health and public order.

Xiamen fared particularly well for its use of the internet and related technologies for social management. The think tank that compiled the ratings suggested that the use of technology for safety management is both efficient and cost-effective. Satisfaction levels among the general public in terms of security, safety awareness and law enforcement reportedly increased substantially.
