Xiamen amongst top three most popular domestic tour destinations

During the 2017 Spring Festival, Sanya, Dali and Xiamen will be the most popular destinations for “haze avoidance tourism”, while Thailand, Japan, France and Italy will be the hottest overseas destinations, according to the 2017 Spring Festival Travel Trend Report issued by Tuniu on January 17th.

Warm and natural places with good air quality, such as Xiamen, Hainan and Yunnan are the main destinations. Tourists can not only take refuge from cold weather, but also avoid smog. According to Tuniu, 62% of their customers have booked domestic travel products. The top ten domestic destinations are Sanya, Dali, Lijiang, Xiamen, Harbin, Chengdu, Kunming, Xishuangbaina, Hangzhou and Guangzhou. Additionally, ice and snow holidays are also one of the popular tour products this Spring Festival.

Although the official holiday will only start on January 27th, most office workers request additional leave. Tuniu said nearly 7% people chose to set out on January 21st and 9% customers chose to set out on January 28th.

Of the overseas tour destinations, the top ten are Thailand, Japan, France, Italy, Indonesia, Australia, Switzerland, America, Spain and Germany. Korea, perennially among the top three most popular overseas destinations, has fallen from this spot.

Tuniu also reported that island tourism is another trend. The ten most popular overseas islands are Phuket, Bali, Jeju, Ko Samui, the Maldives, Boracay, Sabah, Saipan, Okinawa and  the Great Barrier Reef.
