World Ocean Week to be held in Xiamen in Nov

The 2016 World Ocean Week will take place in Xiamen between November 4-10 and it will feature three main sections: an International Ocean Forum, the Ocean Exhibition Fair and numerous Ocean Cultural Activities.

 

The Ocean Week will promote marine cooperation between countries lying along the Maritime Silk Road with a focus upon blue economic development, the spreading of ocean cultures, the participation of enterprises and collaboration with industry. In the past ten years, this activity has become an ocean cultural festival with high-level ocean collaborations and public participation.

 

The World Ocean Week in Xiamen will include the 2016 South-South Cooperation Ocean forum, China-ASEAN National Ocean Park Ecosystem Management International Workshop, the 9th China (Xiamen) International Recreational Fishery Expo, the 9th China (Xiamen) International Boat Show and other related activities.

 

In the International Ocean Forum, the State Oceanic Administration (SOA) will release its national marine cooperation policy - The International Cooperation Framework in the South China Sea and Surrounding Seas (2016-2020), to promote maritime cooperation with ASEAN member states.

 

The 2016 World Ocean Week in Xiamen is jointly sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce, the SOA and Xiamen Municipal Government.
