Xiamen durian shipping route ensures fastest delivery to Chinese market
Known as the "king of fruits", durians are highly popular among consumers. To expedite the transportation of this high-value fruit, Xiamen Port launched Fujian's first dedicated sea freight route for durian imports in April, reducing shipping time from Vietnam to Xiamen by half. To date, this specialized route has handled over 1,200 metric tons of cargo.
The cargo vessel SITC NAGOYA recently arrived at the Haitian Terminal in the Xiamen Free Trade Zone after a direct 50-hour voyage from Vietnam. The ship carried 29 containers of durians, totaling 536 tons in weight. After customs inspection and clearance by Xiamen's Dongdu Customs, this batch of durians will be distributed across China.
Xiamen Port has introduced a green channel while expediting laboratory testing procedures for imported durians. These measures ensure uninterrupted cold chain logistics and uncompromised product quality throughout the distribution process.
China serves as a primary consumer market for tropical fruits from Southeast Asia. Benefiting from its extensive shipping routes to the region, Xiamen has gradually emerged as a key trade hub for tropical fruits, including durians.
