An array of low- and high-altitude synchronized fireworks lit up the skies of both Xiamen and Kinmen on January 29. 

The fireworks display included a range of customize fireworks designed to evoke local imagery and views. The half-hour display included nearly 50,000 individual fireworks. The joint New Year fireworks show dates back to 1987.
