The 2024 China Family Regatta in Xiamen and 2024 Xiamen Ocean Games kicked off on November 9. The two-day event featured Hobie T1 and Hobie T2 categories, attracting about 100 sailors representing 38 families. This is the third time that the event has been held in Xiamen. 

As one of supporting events of the 2024 East Asian Seas Congress and World Ocean Week in Xiamen, the race was set to raise public awareness of marine environmental protection. 

The China Family Regatta is in its seventh year. Over the last six years, more than 4,000 families have participated in the event, establishing sailing as a new weekend vacation choice for the public. 

“I believe in the future, there will be more families participating in the race,”said Wang Yuliang, general manager of Xiamen Sports Industry Group Co., Ltd. 

"The race has been successfully held in Xiamen for three consecutive years, drawing mass participation of ordinary families, and cultivating a large number of sailing enthusiasts who just start from scratch. It has contributed positively to the popularization and promotion of sailing, as well as Xiamen’s urban development and sports industry updates," said Fu Danqing, vice-chairman of Chinese Yachting Association.
