XM announces subsidies for high-level int'l sports events

The Xiamen sports bureau announced recently that each qualifying high-level international sports event held in Xiamen over the next three years will receive a subsidy of up to five million yuan. 
 
The program is part of the city's efforts to promote itself as an international sports city. 
 
City officials suggested that the subsidy program will help to develop the city's sports and performance industry, to create branded sports events and to encourage enterprises and other social organizations to host high-level sports events.
