Officials from Xiamen's finance and sports bureaus recently announced a suite of policies designed to support professional sports clubs based in Xiamen.

Clubs are eligible for up to 20 million yuan in funding. Participating organizations must be located in the city of Xiamen and include the city's name in the club's official name.

Currently supported sports include soccer, basketball and volleyball. Other potential sports include badminton, boxing, xiangqi (Chinese chess), Go, golf, sailing, table tennis and tennis.
