Last week Steffen Metzger, a member of the Heraeus Group management board and the head of its global semiconductor and electronics business division, met with Xiamen’s Deputy Mayor Zhuang Rongliang.

The Heraeus Group is expected to invest millions of dollars in the Compound Semiconductor (Xiamen) Technology Company.

Mr. Zhuang expressed during a meeting with Mr. Metzger hopes for strengthened cooperation in areas such as third-generation semiconductor materials, smart sensors and healthcare. He added that Xiamen hopes to draw additional high-end manufacturing and R&D centers.

Mr. Metzger noted that the Chinese market has been a high-growth area for Heraeus. He added that the city’s promising semiconductor industry ecosystem and business environment motivated the investment decision.
