Xiamen Friendship City Photo Exhibition 2023 Celebrating the Anniversaries of the Friendship City relationships opened on Sept 8 in Xiamen, East China's Fujian province.

This year marks the 40th anniversary of Xiamen’s friendship city relations with Cardiff in the UK and Sasebo in Japan, the 30th anniversary with Penang in Malaysia, the 10th anniversary with Dushanbe in Tajikistan, and the 5 anniversary with Izmir in Turkiye.

The photo exhibition displays the cultural customs and exchanges between Xiamen and the seven cities.

Chen Zixuan, deputy director of Xiamen Municipal Peoples Congress, said that Xiamen has over the past four decades made significant achievements and forged closer ties with international cities.

International friendship city relationships play an active role in promoting the internationalization of a city and boosting its development.

Xiamen has since 1983 forged sister city relations with 22 cities, international friendly exchange relations with 14 cities, and friendly relations with 17 international ports.

The photo exhibition will be held at the Xiamen International Convention and Exhibition Center from Sept 8 to 11.
