Local officials last week announced that the main structure of the fifth phase of the Xiamen International Convention and Exhibition Center has topped out.

Work on interior appointments and the installation of mechanical and electrical systems are now underway.

The project is slated to be ready for final inspection by the end of June. The expansion will increase the center's total floor space to more than 200,000 square meters.

City officials said that the expansion will help to ensure that the center remains a magnet for exhibitions and cultural entertainment in Xiamen.
