2022 World Ocean Week in Xiamen to unveil on Nov 10

The 2022 World Ocean Week (WOW) in Xiamen will be held as scheduled in the city of Xiamen in East China’s Fujian province, from November 10 to 16, according to the WOW Secretariat.

 

Themed “New Engine of Blue Development for the Maritime Community with a Shared Future”, this year’s WOW will focus on science and innovation-driven blue actions and international cooperation, as well as the development of blue economy, marine ecological progress, marine culture communication and blue partnership building.

 

Accordingly, the 2022 WOW will consist of three parts: ocean forums, ocean exhibitions, and ocean carnival activities, with nearly 38 online and offline activities.

 

Of which, 11 forums and 3 exhibitions will focus on the high-quality development of marine technology and industry; 8 forums and 2 art exhibitions will center on the trending issues on marine ecological progress; and 1 forum and 9 ocean carnival activities are designed to promote the integration and exchange of marine culture as well as to raise public awareness in marine protection.

 

In addition, 4 conferences will be held at the same period, so as to deepen the establishment of blue partnership between BRICS Plus countries, East Asian Sea region and Pacific Island countries.

 

The 2022 World Ocean Week in Xiamen is jointly hosted by Ministry of Natural Resources of the People's Republic of China, Xiamen Municipal People's Government, Xiamen University, UNDP China, Partnerships in Environmental Management for the Seas of East Asia (PEMSEA), and organized by the World Ocean Week Secretariat.
