Representatives of the Xiamen Federation of Disabled Persons recently announced that unemployment for persons with disabilities in Xiamen who are capable of and searching for work dropped beneath 10 percent last year, the lowest rate in Fujian. More than a thousand local residents currently study at 38 public-run vocational aid centers for people with disabilities.

Additionally, the Xiamen Federation of Disabled Persons provided rehabilitation services to more than 16,000 persons last year.

The city of Xiamen last year established a series of more than 40 Love Huts at which handicrafts and commodities produced by disabled persons are available for purchase. The program has produced total revenue exceeding 44 million yuan via online and offline sales.

More than 100 local enterprises have made donations and assisted in the management of the Love Huts. Operating income jumped in the first quarter of the year, notching revenue of 1.9 million yuan.
