May 9 marked the launch of Xiamen Torch University, China's first national high-tech zone platform-based industrial university. The New Industrial Revolution Forum, the first brand event undertaken by Xiamen Torch University after its establishment, was held on May 10. Focusing on hot issues of digital transformation, this forum aimed to facilitate the exchange and sharing of industrial experience and fuel the construction of BRICS innovation base.

At the forum, nearly 30 well-known experts, scholars and entrepreneurs at home and abroad were appointed as consultants of Xiamen Torch University. In the meantime, Xiamen Torch University also established strategic partnerships with 18 universities, institutions and enterprises.

The university will devote to building itself into a base for training industrial talents and cradle for innovation and entrepreneurship, a new think tank for high-tech industries and a high-end platform for investment promotion, as well as a platform for international industrial exchanges.

Edmund Phelps, the Nobel Prize winner and professor of Columbia University, and Leslie Maasdorp, vice president of the New Development Bank, addressed the forum and extended their congratulations on the establishment of Xiamen Torch University.
