Fujian Development and Reform Commission issued a consultation on its website on September 14, proposing to adjust the construction plan of Fujian intercity railway.

The adjusted route of Xiamen-Zhangzhou-Quanzhou Intercity Rail Line R1 thereinto shows obvious changes compared with the previous plan: the new route plan starts from Fuzhou-Xiamen High-Speed Railway Quanzhou East Station, and no longer passes through Huian and Quangang, with the total length of the line changing from 205.45 km to 167km.

Xiamen-Zhangzhou-Quanzhou Intercity Rail Line R1, which runs through three cities of Xiamen, Zhangzhou and Quanzhou, is the main framework line of the intercity railway in the Xiamen-Zhangzhou-Quanzhou Metropolitan Area.

As shown in the latest plan, the line is about 167km in length, which will connect the city centers of Xiamen, Zhangzhou and Quanzhou upon completion.

The adjustment of the intercity railway construction plan can boost the development of Xiamen-Zhangzhou-Quanzhou Metropolitan Area, and build a comprehensive transportation system, making it convenient for people to travel.
