Xiamen’s World Ocean Week organizers recently held a meeting in Beijing to discuss plans for this year’s festivities, which kicks off on November 20.

The event is organized in conjunction with the Ministry of Natural Resources, Xiamen’s municipal government, Xiamen University, the U.N. Development Program of China and PEMSEA (Partnerships in Environmental Management for the Seas of East Asia).

The week will carry a theme entitled Ocean, Health and Sustainability: Embarking on a New Voyage of Blue Economy Development. The event will include activities hosted both in person and online.
