The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology recently announced a national list of this year's big data industry development pilot projects.

Five Xiamen-based firms made the list, along with an additional three firms based elsewhere in Fujian.

The local firms that made the list include Luqiao Information, Meiya Shangding, Nascent, State Grid Yili and Yilian Network.

The projects involve the application of big data technologies to examine large data sets in the fields of power transmission, food safety, intelligent parking, enterprise communication and e-commerce.
