China-Europe (Xiamen) Railway Express thrives
On August 16th, a train of China-Europe (Xiamen) Railway Express, loaded with 110 TEUs of goods, departed from the International Logistics Port in Xiamen, Southeast China's Fujian Province. The train was bound for Europe via Erenhot Port in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region.
Over the past nine years, the China-Europe (Xiamen) Railway Express has operated a total of 1,335 train trips, transporting 113,000 TEUs of goods valued at a whopping 34.02 billion yuan ($4.8 billion).
Reflecting on the nine-year development of the China-Europe (Xiamen) Railway Express, Chen Luchao, business manager of Xiamen International Railway Service, said that as one of the earliest operators of China-Europe freight train service, the company was thrilled to witness the continuous growth of the railway express.
Initially carrying mainly small commodities such as clothing and ceramics, the railway express now transports more high-value-added products such as biomedicine and new energy vehicles.
Capitalizing on its geographical location and policy advantages, the China-Europe (Xiamen) Railway Express has expanded from a single route to seven, spanning over 30 cities in 13 countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative.
This development has facilitated the seamless transportation of goods from Japan, the Republic of Korea and Southeast Asian countries. It has created an international logistics corridor connecting the Eurasian hinterland and accelerating the integration of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road and the Silk Road Economic Belt.
To ensure smooth customs clearances for the China-Europe (Xiamen) Railway Express, Xiamen Customs has intensified policy promotion efforts. It has guided train operators to implement the "rail fast lane" mode, and by pre-verifying and processing data to achieve intelligent supervision, one-stop inspections and releases, as well as digital customs clearances.
