2019 Xiamen Photography, Essay and Art Competition concludes

On the morning of November 3, 2019, the 2019 “Love Ocean, Love Xiamen” Photography, Essay and Art Competition Awards Ceremony was held at the beautiful Guanyinshan Beach in Siming District of Xiamen.

A total of 66 photographs, 13 essays, and 12 artworks were chosen as prize winners in respective category in the competition.

As one of marine carnival activities for the 2019 World Ocean Week in Xiamen, the event aims to raise the citizen’s marine awareness, promote the city’s ocean education, and carry forward its marine culture.

Since its launch in May, the event was well-received and widely participated by local people in Xiamen. By the mid-October, the organizing committee had received over 10,000 photographs and more than 1,000 essays and paintings.

Dai Er, one of first prize winners in the essay category, said that the competition had interested him and his friends to concern more about topics on marine environmental protection, especially in the waters of Xiamen.

“The event deepens my love for the beautiful ocean that accompanies us,” he added.

The competition was sponsored by Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Ocean Development and organized by Xiamen Ocean Photography Association and  the West Strait Morning Post.
