2019 Marine Economy Forum for Developing Countries opens in Xiamen

 

The 2019 Marine Economy Forum for Developing Countries kicked off in Xiamen, Fujian province on Oct 30, and will run until Nov 7.

 

A total of 20 officials from 9 coastal developing countries including Bangladesh, Pakistan, Thailand, Seychelles, Panama, Venezuela, Jamaica were invited to attend the 9-day event.

 

The 2019 forum, the first special marine economy forum held along with World Ocean Week in Xiamen for the developing countries, aims to establish and develop marine fishery industry chain. It will further promote high-end development, deepen exchanges and innovate cooperation in the marine industry.

 

During the forum, six companies from the ocean-related research institutes and Fujian’s local enterprises in the fields of aquaculture, equipment, technology, feed, aquatic products processing, offshore fishing, cold chain logistics, and aquatic products trade introduced latest products and technologies to representatives of the developing countries.

 

Officials from 9 developing countries expressed their appreciation for hosting of the forum. They also introduced the development of the marine industry of their own countries via the forum, raised problems occurred, and exchange possible solutions.

 

In addition, the event adopts an "enterprise visit + forum" model, to introduce Chinese manufacturing to developing countries to deepen mutual understandings, and to promote technical and economic exchanges between China and the other developing countries.
