2019 Xiamen Commercialization Fair inks 17 projects worth over 3.6 billion yuan

The 6th Xiamen Commercialization Fair for Marine Scientific and Technological Achievements, one of supporting activities for the 2019 World Ocean Week in Xiamen, was held at Xiamen Fliport C&E Center on Nov 1.

A total of 17 projects were singed at this year’s fair, amounting for 3.639 billion yuan.

The contracted projects covered a wide range of fields, including marine think tank platform, science and technology industrial park, marine biomedicine and products, high-end marine equipment, marine cultural tourism, leisure fishery, yacht harbor and fishery comprehensive service platform.

Fujian Provincial Department of Ocean and Fisheries, Xiamen University and Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Ocean Development joint signed the “Fujian Ocean Think Tank Framework Cooperation Agreement” at the fair.

According to the agreement, they will work together to establish the “Marine Sustainable Development Research Institute” as the platform for the Fujian Ocean Think Tank.

It is worth mentioning that the 2019 Xiamen Ocean and Fisheries Development Special Fund Project attracted a total investment of 100 million yuan in marine biomedicine and products (5 projects), aquaculture automation equipment (1 project), water product testing equipment (1 project) and high-end shipbuilding (1 project). Eight of the projects are all of marine scientific and technological achievements transformation and industrialization.

Since 2013, Xiamen marine and fishery development special funds have supported 127 projects worth 286 million yuan and nearly 50 ocean-related enterprises, attracting 2.396 billion yuan of social capital into the marine sector.

The 2019 fair is sponsored by the Xiamen Municipal People’s Government and the Xiamen Southern Oceanographic Center, that aims to promote the integration of marine science and technology and economy.
