Xiamen Botanical Garden is tucked away in the lush Wanshi Mountain on the southeastern part of Xiamen Island, commonly known as Wanshi Botanical Garden.
Dating back to 1960, the 4.93 square-kilometer garden is a state-level scenic area and the first botanical garden in Fujian Province. As one of the most popular tourist attractions in the city, the garden enjoys the reputation as “the Kingdom of Plants” or “the Museum of Plants”.
The garden is centered on Wanshi Lake, which was originally Wanshiyan Reservoir completed in 1952 and formed by the confluence of Shuimokeng and Qiao Creeks. With scenic lake and mountain views, the lush garden ranks among Xiamen’s top tourist attractions.
