China's summer railway travel season officially began on July 1 and will run through August 31. During the period, China Railway Nanchang Group is expected to transport 64.7 million passengers, up 5.5 percent year on year. Of these, 31.7 million passengers are expected to travel within Fujian, up three percent year-on-year.

Passenger traffic during the summer season will be driven primarily by students, family visits and leisure travel. China Railway Nanchang Group has added 26 pairs of passenger train services, including 20 pairs of high-speed EMU trains with routes focusing on popular tourist destinations and major university cities. In addition, 15 pairs of extra train services have been introduced from Fuzhou, Quanzhou and Xiamen to major cities including Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Shanghai and Shenzhen.

During the summer travel season, two Xiamen railway stations are expected to handle approximately 6.3 million passenger trips, averaging 101,600 passengers per day. Xiamen Railway Station is projected to serve 1.7 million passengers, while Xiamen North Railway Station is expected to handle 4.5 million passengers.
