The city of Manila, Philippines, last week hosted the global launch ceremony of the World Hokkien Golden Melody Awards and Cross-Strait Minnan Music Competition. The launch included a cultural gala themed China-Philippines Night. As the world's longest-running and largest folk cultural exchange platform for Minnan-language music, the World Minnan Golden Song Awards marks its 20th anniversary this year.

The competition has cumulatively drawn over 140,000 contestants from more than 50 countries worldwide. Its total online exposure has exceeded 2.5 billion views. The awards ceremony and six days of ancillary events kick off in Xiamen on November 30.
