World's 1st ISO 50100 issued in Xiamen

The world's first ISO 50100 (energy decarbonization management) certificate was issued on June 10th, 2026, at the Xiamen Area of China (Fujian) Pilot Free Trade Zone (XMFTZ) Global Innovation Center for Sustainable Development in Xiamen, Southeast China's Fujian Province. The British Standards Institution (BSI) presented the certificate to Xiamen Xiangyu Smart Supply Chain Co., Ltd.

This marks a significant step forward for the company in meeting internationally advanced standards in energy management optimization, operational practices, and net-zero capacity building. It also represents a crucial step for Xiamen-based enterprises to align with global benchmarks and build green competitiveness.

Published by the International Organization for Standardization in March 2026, ISO 50100 is the world's first standard to combine energy management with greenhouse gas reduction. The company launched the certification process soon after, and BSI subsequently conducted the audit and issued the first certificate.

Tatiana Schmollack-Tarasova, Managing Director of BSI Greater China, noted that ISO 50100 establishes a quantifiable, actionable, and auditable path toward decarbonization, turning carbon emission reductions into a manageable, traceable, and verifiable daily management system.

At the event, the company and the Xiamen OneBlue Innovation Center for Sustainable Development unveiled the "Zero-Carbon Ark" project — a living lab for sustainable development applications. The initiative will support companies in implementing more sustainability solutions in Xiamen

Unlike a static exhibition hall, the "Zero-Carbon Ark" offers a real-world demonstration of comprehensive sustainable solutions. It brings together four key scenarios — smart water conservation with recycled water reuse, net-zero energy management, waste-to-resource conversion, and ecological restoration — thereby giving companies access to proven technologies.

Looking ahead, the XMFTZ Global Innovation Center will continue to deepen cooperation with international standards organizations and leading institutions, accelerate the deployment of zero-carbon demonstration projects, and contribute Xiamen's expertise and China's solutions to global green development efforts.
