Xiamen University's tree-climbing team recently celebrated its 12th anniversary. The team was founded one year after the debut of the university's widely popular tree-climbing course.

The team's instructor, Zheng Daxiong, is one of the earliest tree-climbing course instructors at Xiamen University. The school is also home to a recreational tree-climbing association.
