Xiamen Golden Dragon Bus and Ethiopia's Belayneh Kindie Group recently held a delivery ceremony in Addis Ababa for 100 pure electric buses, marking East Africa's first large-scale electric public transport operation. Officials heralded the delivery as a new phase in China-Ethiopia green mobility collaboration.

 

The buses, assembled locally from knock-down kits, feature CATL's lithium iron phosphate batteries and charging infrastructure tailored to Ethiopia's grid. Representatives from Golden Dragon noted that it aims to expand knock-down projects with Belayneh Kindie to advance African-manufactured green mobility solutions.

 

Golden Dragon is a market leader in Ethiopia, with 900 of its new-energy buses now operational in the country.
