Local authority recently included Xiamen's Seniors University on its inaugural batch of institutions to earn official designation as a National Standard Demonstration Schools for Seniors Universities. The university is offering more than 300 teaching classes servicing more than 12,000 students in the current academic year.

The school is currently increasing the number of courses on offer. The number of professional departments increased from eight to 10. It has added more than 35 courses in fields such as Han-Tang dance, quilling arts and Fujian cuisine.
