Recently, the international cruise ship Adora Mediterranea arrived in Xiamen city in Southeast China's Fujian Province with 600 passengers onboard. On the same evening, it set sail again with 2,100 passengers heading to Naha, Japan, marking the start of the 2024 winter cruise season at Xiamen International Cruise Home Port.
Prior to the departure of the Adora Mediterranea, the Zhao Shang Yi Dun luxury cruise ship completed the "China Discovery" on November 14th, serving over 9,400 foreign tourists across eight voyages to Xiamen.
This seamless transition from welcoming international visitors to embarking on new journeys highlights Xiamen's appeal as a national pilot demonstration port for cruise transportation and a crucial hub port.
From November 15th to December 6th, the Adora Mediterranea cruise is scheduled to operate seven routes from Xiamen International Cruise Home Port, traveling to destinations in Japan and Southeast Asian countries. On November 28th, the port will welcome the Blue Dream Melody, which will offer a unique 33-night voyage visiting 15 ports across 17 destinations. This extensive journey will take passengers to seven ASEAN countries – Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei, and the Philippines.
Cruise tourism is becoming an increasingly prominent cultural tourism highlight for Xiamen, known as the "Garden on the Sea".
This year, Xiamen International Cruise Home Port has focused on attracting more cruise lines, introducing diverse routes such as traditional routes to Japan and the Republic of Korea, "Maritime Silk Road" routes, and long-distance international routes, while promoting ship-shore integration.
Additionally, the port is leveraging the visa-free entry policy for foreign cruise tour groups to enhance its reception services, and strengthen the promotion of Xiamen's urban culture and tourism resources both at home and abroad, injecting new momentum into the development of Xiamen as a port city, as well as into the whole industrial chain of the city's cultural tourism sector.
