Jiangxi-Fujian multimodal transport breaks 10,000-train milestone

2024-10-31 14:37

The recent departure of the 86,831st sea-rail intermodal train from Nanchang marks a major milestone, as over 10,000 multimodal intermodal trains have now traveled between Jiangxi and Fujian provinces.

The train carried 94 containers loaded with items such as automotive parts, medical equipment, and salt. It departed from Nanchang Xiangtang International Dry Port and arrived at Xiamen Port 18 hours later. Its cargo was then shipped by sea to countries including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Iraq.

Multimodal intermodal trains, as fast, comprehensive, and cost-effective foreign trade trains, not only drive the development of the local train, port, and hub economies but also inject momentum into the Belt and Road Initiative.

In March 2023, the "Silk Road Maritime" sea-rail intermodal train between Jiangxi and Fujian officially started running, further facilitating the "Southeast Logistics Golden Channel" from Jiangxi to Fujian.

The multimodal intermodal train has evolved from operating just once every three days to running daily, transporting goods produced by over 200 Jiangxi enterprises to over 100 ports in more than 50 countries and regions worldwide.
