Xiamen's kitchen & bath sector thrives
Since the start of the year, the kitchen and bath industry of Xiamen, Southeast China's Fujian Province, has developed robustly. Companies in the sector such as Runner (Xiamen) Corp, Solex Technology Co Ltd, Goldenhome Living Co Ltd and Xiamen R&T Plumbing Technology Co, have all experienced a significant increase in their revenues.
In particular, the growth in overseas markets stands out as a highlight.
The latest data from a survey conducted by the city authorities last year indicated that Xiamen's kitchen and bath products had been sold to over 180 countries and regions, with over 20,000 key clients with deep cooperation.
This year, Runner (Xiamen) Corp has been working to boost its overseas supply chain capabilities at its base in Thailand and strengthen its localized services in North America.
Its diversified business models in overseas retailing and cross-border e-commerce are gradually showing positive results, leading to a continuous expansion of market share abroad. In the first half of the year, the company generated revenue of 2.44 billion yuan ($348.02 million), a year-on-year increase of 29.8%.
Goldenhome Living Co Ltd plans to establish a manufacturing base in Thailand to have bulk goods supplied from the Thai base, in a bid to reduce production costs.
Smaller goods will be handled through local satellite factories to enhance localized service capabilities. The company posted operating income of 1.52 billion yuan ($216.44 million) in the first half of the year, representing a 0.91% year-on-year growth.
The overseas revenue of Solex Technology Co Ltd in the first six months reached 1.06 billion yuan ($151.37 million), up 15.51% year-on-year, accounting for over 70% of its total revenue.
Xiamen's kitchen and bath industry now accounts for roughly half of China's bathroom exports, with most companies in the sector providing original design manufacturer or ODM services for many international renowned brands like TOTO, HCG, MASCO and Kohler.
Xiamen companies' research, design and production capabilities are at the forefront of the international market.
Leveraging its manufacturing advantages nurtured by being an original equipment manufacturer, Xiamen R&T Plumbing Technology Co has maintained stable investment in research and development in recent years. By the end of June this year, the company and its wholly owned subsidiaries collectively held 1,905 patents, including 158 invention patents.
This year, Runner (Xiamen) Corp has been driving digital technology and smart manufacturing in the sector. By focusing on top customer services and ramping up product upgrades, it is accelerating the development of kitchen and bath taps, water purification and other product categories.
