XM transit system handles 41.9M passengers in first half of 2024
Ren Guoyan, deputy director and senior inspector of the local transportation bureau, recently provided an update on the local government’s web site covering Xiamen’s traffic operations in the first half of the year.
He noted that Xiamen’s railways, roads, civil aviation and waterways handled 41.9 million passengers, up year-on-year increase by 20.8 percent.
Rail passenger arrivals and departures totaled 27 million, up 19.6 percent year-on-year. Civil aviation passengers totaled 13.4 million, up 20.27 percent.
Long-distance road passenger transport served 185,600 passengers, up almost four percdent.
A total of 17.4 million vehicles exited Xiamen via highways, up 5.6 percent, while the number entering Xiamen was 17.5 million, up 6.1 percent.
