State Council praises Xiamen's sea-rail combined transport model

2023-03-24 15:03

Xiamen's new model of "cross-border e-commerce, the China-Europe Railway Express and the Maritime Silk Road shipping" was recently listed among the third batch of best cases on deepening the innovative development of trade in services by the Office of the State Council Inter-Ministerial Joint Conference on the Development of Trade in Services.

The coastal city in Fujian province is building the Maritime Silk Road shipping platform, as well as launching international freight trains from Xiamen to Lodz, Poland and from Xiamen to Almaty, Kazakhstan, combining sea and land transport to boost global logistics and trade.

In March 2021, the first China-Europe (Xiamen) Railway Express loaded with cross-border e-commerce goods departed from Xiamen to Lodz under the "9710" supervision method. The "9710" stands for "cross-border e-commerce business-to-business direct export," which adopts refined supervision measures,  such as one-time registration of enterprises, one-point connection, convenient customs clearance, simplified declaration, as well as priority inspection and permission of customs transfer, providing customers with high-quality sea-rail combined transport services.

Launched in June 2022, the Xiamen Port cross-border e-commerce shipping express line integrates shipping, ports, and logistics resources, creating higher efficiency and reducing costs.

In 2022, the import and export volume of cross-border e-commerce in Xiamen surged by 68.3 percent year-on-year, totaling 43.49 million pieces.

By the end of 2022, the China-Europe (Xiamen) Railway Express has opened routes to more than 30 cities in 12 countries around the world, including Poznan in Poland, Budapest in Hungary, Hamburg and Duisburg in Germany, Moscow in Russia, as well as Almaty in Kazakhstan, with 1,208 trains having been launched.
