XM Birdwatching Association announces white-tailed harrier sighting
The Xiamen Birdwatching Association recently announced a local sighting of a white-tailed harrier in Haicang's Maluanwan Coastal Freshwater Wetland.
The harrier is the 429th bird species to be recorded in the city in recent years. The Xiamen Birdwatching Association added that 145 species have been spotted in Maluan bay's freshwater wetlands.
The total includes 27 state-level protected birds, including black storks and black-faced spoonbills.
Species spotted for the first time this year include the pink-breasted pipit, the black stork, the reed bunting, the grey goose and the white-tailed kite.
