The first phase of the Linhai section of the Xiamen Mountains-to-Sea Trail (XMST) opened to the public last Thursday.

The 17.9-kilometer trail runs north and south between Wuyuan bay and the Dongshan reservoir.

Major scenic sites along the Linhai trail section include the starting park at Wuyuan Bay, the Hubian Observatory, the Hubian reservoir park, Zhonglun park, and the Dongshan reservoir.

The trail includes 23 barrier-free and 13 gated entry points. Public amenities include rest areas, bathroom and concession stands.

The trail's 7.7-kilometer elevated bicycle lane was reconfigured to accommodate both bicycles and pedestrians.
