A home service event was held in Xiamen, Fujian province on Nov 27, attracting nearly 50 home service companies to showcase their services and offer preferential plans to the public.

The home services included moving, cleaning, infant care, maternity matron work, and pipe cleaning.

The Xiamen home service certificate was also launched at the event, which is a form of identification for qualified home service workers.

Home service workers must show their certificates to employers when they offer door-to-door services, said Zhang Xu, deputy head of the Xiamen Home Service Association.

Employers can scan the code on the certificate to learn about the worker's personal information and skill training experiences, Zhang added.

Statistics show that Xiamen's home service industry has more than 80,000 workers. Information on all the home service workers in the city is expected to be accessible in an online system within three years.

Improvements have been made in Xiamen's home service industry in recent years. For instance, over 50 percent of home service workers in brand home service companies are full-time employees, over 80 percent of the management personnel in home service companies have a college degree or above, and over 90 percent of the home service companies in the city hold pre-job training, said Chen Yuejin, deputy director of the municipal bureau of commerce.
