Seafood prices rise in advance of summer fishing moratorium

Retail prices for seafood in the Bashi, Jiangtou and Jinshang markets are on the rise in advance of the annual three-month commercial fishing moratorium in local waters that goes into effect on May 1.

While prices are increasing, the current supply of seafood remains sufficient to meet local demand. Some products may not be available during the summer.

Frozen and refrigerated products are expected to fill the gap, in addition to seafood harvested from local sea farms.
