Xiamen University officials announced last week the commencement of construction on a new facility for its expanded film school program at the school's Huiyan campus.

The university's current iteration of its film school is geared towards the study of screenplay writing and post-production.

School representatives said the expanded scope of the school will be bolstered by internationally recognized Chinese and international scholars.

The university's program recruits both master's and doctoral students specializing in drama, film and television. The program will expand to undergraduate students recruited from the school humanities program.
