Xiamen, East China's Fujian province, donated its second batch of anti-epidemic materials to its four sister cities to help them fight against the ongoing COVID-19 epidemic, according to local media reports on March 31.

A total of 20,000 N95 medical masks will be sent to Nice, France, and 30,000 will be sent to Trier, Germany, Cebu, the Philippines, and Sunshine Coast, Australia.

The donation was arranged by the Foreign Affairs Office of the Xiamen Municipal Government (XMFAO).

Li Xiaoping, director of XMFAO, said that many of Xiamen's sister cities had provided aid since the COVID-19 outbreak began and had donated medical supplies through various channels to help it fight the virus.

Li added that as the coronavirus pandemic spreads rapidly across the globe, Xiamen will do its best to repay its sister cities and work together with the international community to defeat COVID-19.

Earlier this month, Xiamen donated 30,000 face masks to three cities in South Korea and provided assistance to chartered airplanes from Austria, Monaco, and Ukraine, helping them transport urgently-needed supplies.

Local authorities said that Xiamen will strive to promote international cooperation and to provide assistance to affected countries to the best of its ability.
