Since the outbreak of the novel coronavirus pneumonia (NCP), Xiamen in East China's Fujian province has received concern from many international sister cities and organizations, according to local media reports on Feb 4.

Sasebo in Japan, which established sister-city relations with Xiamen in 1983, has decided to donate 1,000 N95 medical masks and 1,000 surgical masks to the city.

Xiamen also received a consolation letter from Ms. Miriam Fierberg-Ikar, mayor of Netanya, Israel. She said that Netanya will support Xiamen through these hard times by providing protective goods and equipment such as medical protective clothing and facial and medical masks.

In addition, government officials in several international sister cities, such as Gwangyang in South Korea and Phuket in Thailand, as well as many international organizations such as the Baltimore-Xiamen Sister City Committee, have also expressed their sympathy and solidarity with Xiamen during the epidemic, and have offered their support for its efforts in fighting the virus.

At the same time, Xiamen will offer services to foreign nationals working in the city and work with them to prevent and control the NCP epidemic.
