Construction representatives recently announced that dual channels have been excavated for all three undersea sections of the upcoming vehicular tunnel connecting the island of Xiamen and Haicang.

The tunnel is slated to open by the end of 2020.

Also known as Xiamen's second west channel, the Haicang tunnel will join the Haicang bridge in connecting the district to the island of Xiamen.
