Xiamen in East China's Fujian province has received approval from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology to establish the National Integrated Circuit "Xinhuo" Innovation and Entrepreneurship Base, which is meant to promote the innovative development of the city's integrated circuit (IC) industry, Xiamen Daily reported on Nov 18.

The new base will focus on IC technology and products to build new types of innovation and entrepreneurship centers with the goal of developing a better environment and industrial ecosystem for small and micro enterprises and teams of entrepreneurs.

In recent years, Xiamen has been focusing on the development of the IC industry, and a complete industrial chain featuring IC design, manufacturing, closed beta tests, equipment, materials, and applications has taken shape in the city. In 2018, the output value of the city's IC industry increased 19.3 percent year-on-year to 41.7 billion yuan.

In addition, the city has announced various supporting policies for talent and industries, and has introduced a number of renowned companies such as United Semi, Sanan Integrated Circuit Company, and Xiamen Silan Mingjia Compound Semiconductor. Xiamen is now home to more than 200 IC enterprises.

The Xiamen National Integrated Circuit "Xinhuo" Innovation and Entrepreneurship Base is expected to combine investment with technical innovation and inject new energy into the city's IC industry.
