A student dorm building donated by Chinese-Philippine was unveiled at Huaqiao University (HQU) in Xiamen, East China's Fujian province, on Nov 7. The ceremony was attended by a number of government officials and representatives of Philippine businessmen.

The seven-story building, located in Fenghuang Garden on the university's Xiamen Campus, occupies an area of 2,200 square meters. It was donated by the Philippine Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (PCCCII).

Wu Jihuai, vice-president of HQU, thanked PCCCII for its support for HQU and Chinese education. He said that the success of HQU would not have been possible without the help of overseas Chinese.

The PCCCII, founded in 2007, is one of the most important overseas Chinese chambers in the Philippines with more than 10,000 members. The chamber has made significant contributions to cultural trade and exchanges between China and the Philippines, and has played a key role in promoting friendship and cooperation between the two peoples.

Chinese-Philippine have had a close bond with HQU since last century, and the school has received more than 20 donations from them. Various student grants, scholarships, and funds have been established by them as well.
