New First Wharf starts operating in Xiamen

2021-07-15 14:52

The new site of the First Wharf of Xiamen in East China's Fujian province started operating on July 10, while the old site shut down.

The new site is located at No 599 Xidi Road in Siming district and shares the same entrance with the First Wharf Station of the city's Bus Rapid Transit, or BRT system. The routes and schedules remain the same as before.

The First Wharf got its name for being the rightmost of the nine wharfs that were built during the urban development of Xiamen, which started around the 1930s.

The waiting lounge measures about 2,000 square meters in area, 10 times larger than the old one. It has about 250 seats and is equipped with a baby care room, a boiler room, and a VIP room, as well as automatic ticketing machines and self-service charging machines.

The new wharf is seamlessly connected to the BRT systems, freeing passengers from a 200-meter walk to transfer between the ferry and the BRT.

In addition, the pontoon has been expanded to 60 meters long and 15 meters wide, with an additional two berths.

Check-in ends five minutes before each ferry trip. There is a four-minute walk from the check-in point to the boarding point. Please schedule your trip accordingly.
