Xiamen awarded State Global Tourism Demonstration Area

The China National Tourism Administration has released information on the second batch of State of Global Tourism Demonstration Areas. Xiamen has been included in this as the only municipal city to be granted this honour in Fujian Province.

Fujian Tourism Administration introduces that State Global Tourism Demonstration Areas are intended to transfer the focus of national tourism from scenic tours to regional tours. In recent years, Fujian has built a reputation around the slogan “Fresh Fujian”, focusing on establishing it identity as a regional ecotourism province.

Previously, Pingtan Comprehensive Experimental Area, Wuyishan city, Taining County, Dongshan County, Yongchun County, Pingnan County, Yongding District, Liancheng County and Xianyou County were selected in the first batch of “State Global Tourism Demonstration Areas". As well as Xiamen, Yongtai County, Dehua County, Youxi County, Jianning County, Wuping County also appear in this second batch.

At present, there are 15 State Global Tourism Demonstration Areas in Fujian Province.
